6th Sunday of Ordinary Time - 2/15/26

In this homily Jesus confronts us with a deeper understanding of the law. It is not enough to simply avoid grave sin. The Lord calls us to interior conversion and purification of heart. He teaches that anger is the root of violence, lust the root of adultery, and that true righteousness goes far beyond external obedience. The Christian life is not about doing the bare minimum to avoid hell. God has given us confession, the Eucharist, and Scripture so that we may grow in holiness now. The goal is not merely to be saved, but to allow our hearts desires and intentions to be transformed by grace. This reflection also prepares us to enter Lent with seriousness. Prayer, fasting, and almsgiving are not external performances but tools for interior purification. Christ is inviting us to let go of attachment to the world and to seek the treasures of heaven. Holiness begins in the heart. When our hearts are purified, our actions follow.
